NERA
Hey, Everyone!
I hope you are all enjoying the beginning of your Summers. I sent out an email, but I'm not sure if I have everyone's email right. I emailed David about submitting our research to NERA and wrote up a 4 page synopsis of our work and an abstract. The only other thing David wanted now was a preliminary tally of who anticipates taking a day off. If you're like me, you don't have a job yet and have no idea if you can get a day off lol .... he just wants to know who thinks they would ask I guess. Thus far, I have Natalie, Jill, Ashley, Ericca, Jon and Carly under anticipated yes. If everyone else could just respond to this post with a yes/no then I'll email David with all the info. Thanksssssss!!! :)

Vineyard Visit??
Hey guys!!
So I dont have internet here... bummer (I am at the library like a nerd!) so if you are interested in visiting it is probably best to leave a post for everyone to see.. THEN call me and tell me your thoughts. I know that is kind of crazy but I dont get to the library very often.
So if you are interested in coming to visit...I have Mondays and Tuesdays off all through June. June 25th the second restaurant opens so I will be busy from then on. But visitors are always welcome after then in pairs (that way if i have to work... you have a buddy to hang out with!) Weekends are the hardest for me because I have a lot of weddings and special events going on. But if there are a few of you that come up, you can entertain yourselves while I am at work!
(there are no renters in the house through most of June.. so if a few of you want to come.. that is the best time because there will be 3 spare beds and 3 couches to snuggle on. )
In summary.... JUNE JUNE JUNE!!! especially at least on Mondays and Tuesdays :)
LOVE AND MISS YOU ALL!
<3 Carly

It's Chrissy again -- I just wanted to post some pictures that I added to my computer so you guys could have them :)
Book Club Discussion!
Hi Guys!
It's Chrissy - I am not a contributor yet so I had to post from the uconn london username! Anyways I know a lot of us have "cheated" on the book club and went way past chapter 6 (I'm currently starting chapter 18 right now oops) so I was thinking we could change our discussion date and just have the whole book read! The week of May 21st seems like a reasonable time to finish it, and we can choose a day that works for everyone. Leave comments as to when you are available so we can figure it out, I know I am pretty much free the whole week! Also -- suggestions to where we should meet? I think someone mentioned Hartford earlier so whatever works! Love you all :)

Graduation Party
Hello all!
I will be having a graduation party May 20th... I know this may be kind of short notice since it's only a little over a week away and some of you have already left the state, but I would love to see you all again if you're available. We're having it at my grandmother's house behind the garden center, so you are all welcome to bring your bathing suits for the indoor heated pool/jacuzzi. Also we should be having lots of food and I'll probably get a couple bottles of wine, but as you know we can all put a lot of wine away. So, please let me know if you'd like to come by. All are welcome from 3 o'clock on :) Address is 90 Maple Avenue East Haddam, CT 06423.
Love you

It's very Grey this evening....
Sooo... yes to set dates or just read at your own pace. I have gotten a second book if we are sticking with it, but I wanted to see what the actual consensus was.

Book Club
So, has everyone bought their book?? Now that we're done with school I need to get right into a book. Is four weeks an acceptable time to expect to finish it? If so, first 6 chapters in week one? If you couldn't tell I'm getting antsy to get on this book club business. It's my first one of the sort, so i think dates are helpful :)

Tomorrow!
Katie Swedberg organized a picnic on Horsebarn hill tomorrow around noon. so afterwards...
Wine tasting tomorrow at twoish! The place is called Sharpe Hill Farm in Pomfret...When I said it was close I lied...it's like 45 mins away. But we can carpool and its a scenic drive! It closes at five though..12 dollars for 10 wine tastes and a wine glass!
Then Kate, Melissa and I, but mostly Kate and Me elissa made of list of scavenger hunt like activities for us to do...in two group teams or all as one...the list is as follows:
-Find a condom, don't touch it, just a picture (ew)
-Take a picture with as many people on the Jonathan the Husky statue as you can..don't forget to rub his nose for good luck!
-Picture on top of Horsebarn hill..You can do that at the picnic!
-Picture of someone climbing the penis like statue near the library
-Picture planking something eight feet tall...or just plank something
-Picture with a UConn sign or map
-Picture drinking a beer in Xlot
-Go to the library, find a book with a naked man it and take a picture
-Record yourself singing loudly on the fourth floor of the library
-Ask a UConn worker for their phone number
-End at the rock, attempt to paint it with a British
Anything else?
After that...if that ends up happening, everyone should come over to Em and I's apartment to decorate our caps and watch embarassing videos of ourselves in london and cry...bring puffy paint or anything else you'd like to decorate your cap with!!!

"The A-Team"
Hi All,
Couldn't help but share this with you all - saw Ed Sheeran's video for "The A-Team" on VH1 this morning and it immediately brought me back to London, hanging in the flats with you all. London truly is following us wherever we go (and I love it), ha!
Here's a link to the official video (it's a little dark and deep, but love it regardless) if you want to check it out/relive those moments too!

Book club proposition
Hello my fellow friends!
I have been thinking about all this hype over 50 Shades of Grey and what the heck I should do about it. I think Chrissy was the one who mentioned that she heard someone say the book changed her sex life. (If you haven't heard all the talk in the teacher's lounge: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifty_Shades_of_Grey) Then I recalled a few other London goers expressing interest in the book, and I thought to myself, "perhaps this would be a good opportunity for us to explore a shared intrigue in this curious novel."
And so, I propose having a "book club" together. By book club I mean we read the same book at our own pace and send each other texts, post on each others' walls, email, blog, call, engage in communication, etc. whenever something exciting/scary/crazy/emotional happens. Really its just a suggestion that anyone who wants to, read the book, and we do it at similar times. I just really like reading books with friends.
Very casual.
Low stakes.
Secret Club membership.
FUN!
If we want to get fancy we could even meet up and have dinner and drinks and talk about the book.
What do you guys think?
Love,
Melissa
P.S. Did I mention that it is considered erotic literature?!? Now, if that doesn't get you going...
P.P.S This is for Jon: Although this novel is hugely popular with the female readers I hope that you will join the club and offer the male perspective as you do so well.
